Oneida Indian Nation Homelands (September 17, 2024) – On September 17, the Oneida Indian Nation hosted a charity golf tournament to thank local law enforcement agencies for their collaboration with the Oneida Indian Nation Police Department and their efforts to ensure the highest level of public safety throughout Central New York. Held at the Nation’s award-winning Kaluhyat golf course at Turning Stone Resort Casino, the event was attended by members of the Oneida and Madison County Sheriff’s Offices, the New York State Police and federal agencies. More than $7,000 was raised during the tournament to benefit the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, which seeks to honor the fallen, tell the story of American law enforcement and improve safety for all who serve.

The partnership between the Oneida Indian Nation Police Department and the region’s law enforcement agencies has been hailed as a national model for tribal and local public safety coordination. This high level of collaboration is exemplified by the deputization agreement between the Oneida Indian Nation Police Department and the Madison and Oneida County Sheriff’s Offices, which has increased on-duty officer availability to enhance public safety in local communities.
