The Oneida Indian Nation today gathered with local elected officials, community leaders, partners in the building trades and team members to break ground on a major expansion of Point Place Casino. The more than $50 million investment will double the size of the casino’s gaming floor, add a new hotel and restaurant and create a number of additional amenities while serving as an engine for economic development and job creation in Madison County.

Oneida Indian Nation Homelands (August 20, 2024) — The Oneida Indian Nation today held a groundbreaking event at Point Place Casino to kick off a major expansion at the property. Local elected officials, community leaders, partners in the building trades and team members gathered at the casino to celebrate the Nation’s more than $50 million investment in the expansion, its team and the economic development of Madison County.

The expansion of Point Place Casino will include:

  • Doubling the size of the existing gaming floor
  • A new multi-story hotel with 100 rooms
  • A new restaurant
  • A new Perfect Pour Cafe satellite location in the hotel’s lobby
  • An event space
  • An update for the Fireside Lounge that will double its current size and add a 360-degree view of the wood-burning fireplace with cozy new seating
  • And more…

Along with the many new amenities the expansion will create at Point Place Casino, the Oneida Indian Nation’s investment in the property will also generate more than 200 construction jobs, grow regional tourism, and create new opportunities for Turning Stone Enterprises team members.

“When we built Point Place Casino six years ago, we had a vision for what it could become as an entertainment destination and an economic engine for this community,” said Ray Halbritter, Oneida Indian Nation Representative and Turning Stone Enterprises CEO. “As with everything we do, that vision was guided by the understanding that if you are not growing, you are going backward. That has been our motto across all of our enterprises and the reason we are so committed to constant diversification and growth.”

“The Oneidas have been friends and partners since the Revolutionary War and when we work together, we can see success,” said New York State Senator Joseph Griffo (NY-53). “The $50 million investment here at Point Place Casino will continue to build upon Turning Stone Enterprises and all of the good things the Nation has done to make this a point of destination and an attraction worthy of entertainment and excitement. It’s the total experience.”

“Today’s groundbreaking is not just about a new hotel, enlarging current spaces or renovations, but about expanding opportunities and investing in the future of Madison County and the surrounding region,” said New York State Assemblymember Brian Miller (NY-122).

“The Oneida Indian Nation has created many good things that have impacted this region that we all benefit from, from helping win American independence two-and-a-half centuries ago to the significant economic role it plays today in our county,” said Madison County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jim Cunningham. “It has created so many good jobs in Central New York and we are so fortunate to have the Nation here.”

“The expansion of Point Place Casino and adding our first hotel to the town of Sullivan will have a tremendous influence on our town and county,” said Town of Sullivan Supervisor Thomas Daviau. “It will add a new flow of visitors and hundreds of new jobs.”

“On behalf of the over 7,000 hard hats that work in our building trades council, I would like to thank Representative Halbritter, Oneida Indian Nation leadership and every team member at Turning Stone Enterprises,” said Central-Northern New York Building & Construction Trades Council President Greg Lancette. “The critical roles that happen with everybody working together bring us back to these facilities, like we are here today. It is success built on success.”

“We’ve been a partner with the Oneida Indian Nation since 1991 when we built the original Turning Stone Resort Casino,” said The Hayner-Hoyt Corporation President Jeremy Thurston. “Our relationship with the Oneida Indian Nation has allowed our business to flourish and we are one of so many businesses that reap the benefits of a relationship with the Oneida Indian Nation.”

“The vision that Ray Halbritter and the Oneida Indian Nation have had about continuous improvement is remarkable,” said Bridgeport-Lakeport Civic Organization Chairman Terry Manning. “They have created an economic engine that is driving our community forward, providing good jobs, and their support of our community is remarkable.”

The Oneida Indian Nation has made continuous investments in Point Place Casino since its grand opening in 2018, including two expansions of its gaming floor, the introduction of a sports book and the creation of the Perfect Pour Cafe. All of this growth aligns with the Nation’s many investments throughout the region, including the creation of its new Play On slot parlor at the Verona Crossroads retail plaza and the largest evolution of Turning Stone Resort Casino in two decades.
